ABSTRACT
In the humanitarian crisis caused by the armed conflict in Ukraine, Polish non-governmental organisations (NGOs) have played a key role in helping refugees who have found a safe haven in Poland. The aim of this chapter is to analyse the most important initiatives carried out by selected Polish NGOs, such as the provision of basic needs, support in social integration, or psychological assistance to help refugees cope with the trauma of war. Additionally, educational activities were discussed (including the organisation of language courses) as well as efforts to facilitate access to the labour market (aimed at supporting refugees in finding employment). The analysis of NGO activities for Ukrainian refugees shows the role that local initiatives and grass-roots involvement have played in providing humanitarian support. The results of this research are directed to international organisations, governments, and academic institutions to help shape effective aid strategies. Theoretical methods, such as analysis, synthesis, and inference on the basis of available sources, including documents and legal acts, media information, online sources, specialised press, and academic studies, will be used to achieve the goal.
