ABSTRACT

In two years of Nigeria Notes, I have focused on issues that relate to governance and development. The issues discussed in the Notes fall within the broad-gauged definition of governance provided by the World Bank when the term became a buzz word in the early 1990s: “the exercise of political authority and the use of institutional resources to manage society’s affairs”. Of the different issues, I will revisit four in this overview: electoral legitimacy, rule of law, anti-corruption, and public service.
