ABSTRACT
It constructs an index system based on the new development philosophy to evaluate China's manufacturing high-quality development from 2001 to 2020. Results indicate an overall upward trend, with knowledge-intensive sectors outperforming others, while high-pollution industries progressed slower. Most industries show relatively high green development levels, though innovation capability is concentrated in technology-intensive sectors. Dynamic analysis reveals strong stability in high-quality development grades with limited upward mobility and some downgrade risks. Disparities primarily stem from differences between industry types, with knowledge-intensive sectors exhibiting the greatest internal variation. The study concludes that challenges persist in ascending the value chain, deepening green transformation, strengthening innovation, and enhancing international competitiveness.
