ABSTRACT

The chapter looks at the role of Agentic AI in energy security. It also posits a new definition of energy security by outlining a holistic view of all the overarching factors, which confront current challenges such as cyber-threats to critical utilities, the integration of smart grid technologies into smart grid arrangements, and the alignment of energy systems with climate adaptation. It examines the extent to which digitalization offers new optimization possibilities, as well as areas with entirely new vulnerabilities. The evolutionary shift to reframe energy security provides a comprehensive but easily operationalizable tool to analyze complex processes embedded in energy transitions, in terms of rigorous validation methodology and practical operationalization guidelines.
