ABSTRACT

This monograph addresses a significant research gap in the study of benefit morale within post-socialist societies. Its primary contribution lies not in proposing a fundamental conceptual innovation, but in the comprehensive application and integration of established theoretical frameworks to a new empirical context – Poland, a Central and Eastern European country with a distinct institutional and cultural heritage. By combining a cultural approach (examining norms and values) with an institutional one (analysing the role of the state and policy design), we have created a holistic picture of welfare attitudes, which have often been treated fragmentarily in previous research.
