ABSTRACT
In this final chapter, the authors summarise the main messages and themes of this book. Voices are not, per se, problematic. Rather, conflict arises as a consequence of the attitude towards them and the relationship with them. The role of power and the bullying dynamic within the voice hearing experience and within other relationships are also something that readers are encouraged to identify in order to empower themselves. Reflections are made on the areas for further research and development that emerged in writing this book, particularly the nature and role of shame in the voice hearing experience. Thanks are offered to those who supported the writing of this book and particularly to those who took part in the research that helped formulate the Tripartite Relationship Theory. This chapter ends with some of the participants’ thoughtful and inspiring words that may help validate and encourage voice hearers who may read this book.
