ABSTRACT
Cross-border pollution is harmful to habitats, species, and ecosystems in the neighbouring country, triggering the duty to remediate cross-border contamination and degradation. Cross-border remediation of polluted sites can occur in three contexts. Nature restoration contributes for maintaining peaceful relations between neighbours. Recent developments in international and EU law provide answers to questions such as where to restore, who should participate in restoration activities, or how to restore transboundary damage.
