ABSTRACT

This chapter has one short entry, namely, operational land deals. This keyword has not only emerged from the literature rush associated with the contemporary land rush but has evolved specifically in the context of subsequent big scale effort at data banking. It is related to the question of what data is being collected and aggregated, how and with what implications? These are important methodological questions to ask because relying on datasets in making sense of the causes, conditions, and consequences of the land rush may result in rigorous analysis, or not, depending on the data being used. The type of data that is convenient for data collector and aggregator to gather and compile is the data on corporate operational land deals. This is an important dataset, but it represents only a portion of the real scope of the land rush.
