ABSTRACT
In this chapter, the key concepts of class, climate change politics, climate of global land politics, climate-smart land politics, commons, commoning, and customary tenure are explored in the tradition of Critical Agrarian Studies, which is itself an entry key word in the chapter. Class and class analysis are central to the analysis of land politics in the book, without which attempts to understand the politics of land from a perspective of social justice will not be possible. Contemporary rethinking about land is largely related to climate politics, and thus the importance of the two concepts about it in this chapter. Commons and commoning have been gained significant degree of popularity in recent times from among academics and activists, partly in reaction to attempts by owners of big capital and central state to commodify land and nature.
