ABSTRACT
In this chapter, I recount some of the issues raised with me as barriers to disclosure of child sexual abuse (CSA) experienced by people from some minority communities. Many of these barriers are linked to fear of negative societal perception of cultural and religious origins; some to the impact of culture and identity in the individual based on membership of a specific group; all to perceptions and fear of damaging judgement, danger and exposure. Some of these have already been explored by the Independent Inquiry into Child Sexual Abuse in their research publication; “People don't talk about it”: Child sexual abuse in ethnic minority communities.
