ABSTRACT
The final chapter addresses the central questions of scholars working on sexual violence in the Bible. These include the continuing debate over terminology, the critical nature of intersectional approaches, and continuing pressure in the guild for “neutrality” and “objectivity.” This chapter reprises additional concerns the scholars articulated: trends in contemporary scholarship that downplay biblical violence, a concern that scholars who do engage are speaking primarily to a sympathetic audience, and the need for scholarship to be accessible to a more general public. This chapter ends with a reprise of the ethical questions at stake for scholars of sexual violence.
