ABSTRACT

Although technology is reshaping the world of culture, COVID-19 accelerated the pace of change. IT will reshape the flow of information, ideas, and creativity in the way people think and value life. The Philippine government is working hard to find ways for society to survive in COVID-19. It encourages companies in the public and private sectors to use technology to prevent the worsening situation of human health and economic status. The government and the Department of Health provided policies such as wearing of face mask and face shield, social distancing, and lockdowns of infected areas. Such policies employ internet services like online transactions (e.g., remittances, shopping, deliveries, online classes and schooling, online meetings, and health consultation). Staying ahead of technology challenges the younger generation and non-technical professionals to adapt to social networking on the internet, world wide web, and future augmented reality. If successful, the world will allow many opportunities to recreate the public to raise the level of social connections for more people. If society is unable to keep up, technology will control it. This chapter looks at the way applied technology has affected Southeast Asian efforts to fight COVID-19 and to rebuild education, public health, business practices, and internet connectivity.
