ABSTRACT
This chapter analyses the different discursive formations of ‘development’ and ‘globalisation’ in North–South relations and the shift from one discourse to the other in the context of the rise of neoliberalism. It highlights differences in the principles regarding international actors and the question how to achieve social change, regarding the policy recommendations and the status of developmental states, development aid and development economics.
