ABSTRACT
The all-pervading influence that AI technologies have assumed in our lives, a process that seems to deepen and widen on an almost daily basis, without a doubt, represents one of the most real existential threats to our civilisation in living memory. At the same time, if handled intelligently, it can also lead to the greater advancement of our society. So, while AI technologies undoubtedly contribute to generating and exacerbating complex phenomena such as hyperconnectivity, social acceleration, temporal ambivalence, siloed thinking and ethical de-responsibilisation, it should not be forgotten that technology is one of humanity’s greatest achievements, helping us to enhance the quality of human life in many ways.
