ABSTRACT

A low level of intra-organizational trust has many negative consequences for the entire organization, for example, it leads to dysfunctional behaviour among employees. Trust that has been built over a very long time can be lost in a matter of moments. Rebuilding damaged trust is a difficult but possible process—commitment to the process of rebuilding trust and taking appropriate actions to rebuild it.

The chapter is divided into five parts. The first part was devoted to the essence and conditions of the process of erosion of trust in an organization. The second part discusses the concept of distrust and its consequences. The third part presents the concept of organizational cynicism and discusses its impact on the functioning of the organization. The fourth part concerns the importance of employee anomie in the process of trust erosion. The fifth part presents the essence and conditions for the effectiveness of the process of rebuilding disturbed trust in an organization. The content of this chapter is the result of a systematic review of the literature.
