ABSTRACT

Racist bullying in the British National Health Service (NHS) increased during the pandemic. While mortality figures for NHS staff by ethnicity have never been published, it was clear early on that ethnic minority healthcare staff were dying disproportionately. The Nursing Narratives: Racism and the Pandemic project aimed to how racism affected the impact of COVID-19 on Black and Brown healthcare staff. The introduction explains the background to the research and outlines the remaining chapters of the book. It describes the process through which the anti-racist manifesto for change was written by the healthcare staff who took part in the Nursing Narratives project.
