A brief overview of existing approaches

In this chapter, three approaches to commitment are reviewed: an approach taking its starting point in individual commitment, an approach focusing on social normative commitment and shaped by speech act theory and a game-theoretic approach. On behalf of approach, answers are developed to the three key questions raised in Chapter 1.
