Introduction

This chapter outlines the main research questions motivating this study of the Canaanite Amarna Letters and provides a review of the history and scholarship of the site. It also provides theoretical frameworks that informed the approach in this study. The chapter also outlines the trajectory of the subsequent sections, and the relationship between the case studies in the book.
