ABSTRACT

This conclusion presents some closing thoughts on the concepts covered in the preceding chapters of this book. The book explores the way the issues of unemployment have been created and shaped through a complex process of capitalist transformations and the subsequent state intervention in the domain of rural economy. The question is the way the political parties have been intervening in employment concerns. The book reveals that not only do the economic transformations impact differently on different classes of people, but also does a specific local setting having particular inequalities engender specific capitalist dynamics. It addresses the way the government of India exhorted formally the NGOS and the so-called civil society in its efforts to transform India since the beginning of post-reform era. Owing to the devastating crisis in agriculture and overall rural economy, and the subsequent out-migration of the male members of rural families in search of jobs, the women are conspicuous by their presence in agriculture.
