ABSTRACT
The conclusion summarizes the major arguments of the book such as the importance which Japan’s leaders placed on maintaining Japan’s US-centered foreign policy even as they reached out to China and assesses the very different leadership styles of Tanaka Kakuei and Ōhira Masayoshi. Also, it describes how the peaceful process through which Sino-Japanese normalization was achieved can serve as a useful lesson for the modern relationship between the two countries.
