ABSTRACT
Human trafficking is an international crime against the self-determination of victims. There is a strong connection with organized crime. This chapter discusses the ways in which international cooperation between government organizations and NGOs can take place in the field of human trafficking. It explains various programs that are being used to combat exploitation in the sex industry, and it presents the outcomes of the so-called “barrier model” that aims at fighting human trafficking at various levels in society.
