ABSTRACT
I am not a specialist on industrial film. However, I decided to accept the invitation to make this contribution because I realized that there are at least three, possibly even four distinct areas of work that I am currently engaged in that touch upon – and indeed intersect with – the Gebrauchsfilm or utility film, of which the industrial film forms such an important corpus. My motto in this respect is that “there are many histories of the moving image, only some of which belong to the movies.” 1
