ABSTRACT
This chapter is in three parts. The first gives a general account of the post-colonial development of the Indian shipbuilding industry with special reference to Maharashstra. The second part focuses on Bharati Shipyard Ltd (BSL), the second-largest private sector shipbuilding company in India. The third and final section deals with the historical progression of employer, employee, and production relationships in BSL. It will also highlight the current situation of the company and the working condition of its employees.
