ABSTRACT

The “Specto 500” Cine Projector was released by Specto Limited of Windsor, UK in 1951. 8mm, 9.5mm, and 16mm models were available, as well as dual gauge models (8/16mm and 9.5/16mm). The projector worked with either a 200W or a 500W lamp and could be converted for sound playback. The machine shown in this advert from 1953 is set up for 16mm projection, with no sound. In Dutch schools—the type of institutions targeted by the ad—the projection of films with sound was still a rare occurrence at this time.
