ABSTRACT

The ocular route of drug delivery is unique due to the specific requirements and the complexities associated with the same. This chapter endeavors to present an insight into ocular drug delivery systems with special reference to their evaluation parameters. Furthermore, it also presents the advancement in the use of novel drug delivery systems in ocular diseases and the evaluation of these systems through in-vitro studies, toxicological studies and in-vivo animal pharmacokinetics. The focus is on both, novel products and differentiated generics, along with the role of transporters in ocular drug delivery.
