ABSTRACT

In chapter 7 we examined the turbulence effects on the equations for the mean flow and magnetic field, that is, the Reynolds stress R ij and the turbulent electromotive force E M, from a few different viewpoints. The most orthodox method of closing equations (6.63) and (6.65) seems to construct the equations for the two-time spectral quantities such as Q uu (k; τ, τ′) Huu (k; τ, τ′) in terms of which the coefficients in R ij and E M are written. The method is not feasible in the study of highly inhomogeneous magneto-hydrodynamic (MHD) turbulence at all.
