ABSTRACT

That initial meeting established plans for the first year of LIFT’s Business Arts Forum. There was a session to introduce participants to why they might find it valuable to learn from a contemporary theatre festival. Then we invited people to attend at least four LIFT ’95 events in June and July. Everyone was put in ‘syndicates’ with private sector people, artists and a facilitator to translate between the worlds. Participants were encouraged to attend events together and take partners, colleagues, family or friends to events as well – thereby making a link between people’s inside and outside work personas. At the end of the Festival, we held a session to talk about what participants had seen. They were asked what they would do differently in their work as a result of their experience. Participants’ fees funded Forum activities.
