ABSTRACT

337Optical fiber communication networks have been developed rapidly and have become the most popular means of communication instead of a copper-based network. To accelerate the progress, an optical connector is the key device for progress. Many types of connectors are provided for proper selection. For example, SC, LC, and MU are for single glass fiber applications; MT-RJ, MPO, and MPX are for multiple glass fiber applications; F05 and F07 are for plastic optical fiber (POF) applications, and so on. In addition, new connectors have been developed for more advanced applications to increase the user-friendliness of the optical fiber interface and accelerate the development of the optical network.
