ABSTRACT

— This contribution describes optimization of active RC networks with respect to the finite amplifier gain. In the first section we discuss the reasons active RC networks are useful and indicate their practical application. The next section describes transfer functions while sensitivities of this function are explained in Section 3. The gain-sensitivity product is introduced in Section 4. It shows that an active RC network can be optimized for a limited open loop gain, depending on the frequency compensation of the amplifier. Finally, the optimization procedure is shown on a practical example with a second-order bandpass filter.
