ABSTRACT

In conventional tunnelling, the control of blasting work by the blasting master is regarded as a key factor for successful and safe tunnel excavation. Each type of rock with its division has different excavation behaviour and makes driving difficult, even in the case of small-scale geological changes. The quality of the excavation and the cavity support is therefore highly dependent on the skills and experience of the tunnelling team. The Tunnel Control System (TCS) was developed to improve the accuracy of the excavation cross-section created by the blasting. The blasting process is optimized for this by additional information for the drill master in the arrangement of the blast holes. The geometric evaluation of present tunnel scan data with known and documented geological impacts makes it possible to predict an excavation behaviour and possible optimization of the blasting pattern.
