ABSTRACT

In view of these putative developments, it is likely that Hereford use continued to be influenced by Sarum well into the sixteenth century, before the medieval English rites were finally abolished two decades after the Reformation. It can only be surmised whether any later missals and breviaries were proposed after 1502 and 1505, which seems unlikely in view of the fact that these single editions were never revised or reprinted. Any such books are also likely to have been the products of Sarum influence.
