ABSTRACT
While the residential buildings of medieval Jerusalem remained well within theboundaries of the ancient walls, outside the city there were a number of public buildings and installations, both religious and secular, which were also associated with the city’s life. Beyond these were farm lands and rural settlements which were part of the economic base of Jerusalem, supplying the city with agricultural products and manufactured goods.
