ABSTRACT
The language for describing work has a momentous influence on the way in which work is approached because the values it embodies translate into attitudes. Duty, application, conscientiousness have helped to embody the Protestant work ethic. But such words lose specific utility when it comes to differentiation between the various types of work that make up a complex set of industrial operations.
