ABSTRACT

Digital Multimedia Broadcasting–Terrestrial (DMB-T) is a mobile television service that targets mobile devices such as mobile phones and handheld and portable devices. The first launch of DMB-T services started in December 2005 in Korea. DMB-T involved broadcasting of audio, video, and data. The goal for the audio services of DMB was to distribute digital radio programs that could replace analog VHF radio. DMB can also offer a wide variety of data services other than Program-associated data (PAD). While PAD is coupled with audio and video streams, this type of data is transferred in fixed-size packets and is called non-program-associated data. Interactive data services can be developed by combining DMB with a two-way communication channel offered by a mobile cellular network. Digital audio broadcasting /Digital Multimedia Broadcasting standards propose dynamic fixes of the appropriate code rate, taking into account the expected degree of interferences, which also depends on the environment where the transmitter operates.
