ABSTRACT
Rural and remote small town settings are often difficult places in which to deliver health care because of their smaller populations and geographical remoteness. These challenges often contribute to, and are exacerbated by, poorer health outcomes among populations in these settings. At the same time, efforts to address rural health care delivery challenges too often focus on short-term patchwork fixes that, at best, restore and reproduce inadequate models of health care delivery.
