ABSTRACT

This chapter reviews patient-reported outcome measures (PROMs) that are relevant to neuro-urology. PROMs have different potential applications. They may have been designed to look at patients at one point in time, predict things like a clinical improvement, or demonstrate a change over time. The Qualiveen was developed with the support of Coloplast in 2001 and represents one of the first bladder-specific quality of life (QOL) tools designed for neuro-urology. The Incontinence-QOL PROM was originally developed to assess the impact of urinary incontinence on QOL in women. The spinal cord injury (SCI)-QOL is a set of QOL questionnaires that assess various aspects of life after a SCI. The Neurogenic Bladder Symptom Score was published in 2014. Its primary purpose is to assess the urologic symptom burden of patients with SCI, multiple sclerosis, or spina bifida across different bladder management strategies. The QUAlity of Life Assessment in Spina bifida for Adults is a health-related QOL measure for patients with spina bifida.
