ABSTRACT

At the start of the session the facilitator welcomes all the students to the group. At the outset the facilitator begins by reading out the rules of the group and prompting students to remember how they have agreed to function in order to ensure that everyone’s learning is both safe and productive. The facilitator asks the students to feed back on the take home task. The students were asked to consider the differences between girls and boys gangs and to specifically identify the reasons why boys and girls join gangs, identifying any differences or similarities in their reasons. The breakout activity asks the students to generate short-term and long-term solutions to a given scenario. Primary students are asked to design a street safety poster while secondary students are asked to produce a poem, rap or song.
