ABSTRACT

Description: PegIntron is a recombinant modified human interferon alfa-2b. It is derived from the product Intron A. It differs from the natural molecule by the addition of a polyethylene glycol polymer strand conjugated to the molecule. It is apparently identical to the product marketed with the trade name ViraferonPeg. PegIntron is produced by recombinant DNA technology in Escherichia coli cells and is presented as a powder to be resuspended before subcutaneous injection. It is also provided in vials and cartridges to be used with multidose devices.
