ABSTRACT

UAVs. For this reason, international civil flight agencies are working over a complete redesign of existing flight and sky rules, planning in the near future to permit UAVs flying in shared civil flight space. Certainly, sense-and-avoid functionalities are being developed for military application, but under secrecy, so that research and development for the civil sectormust proceed in parallel. As of today, such a device, destined to civil operations, is still not available or not capable of being certified. Such considerations mean that autonomous flight is currently an open problem rather far from being solved.
