ABSTRACT

Steel orthotropic decks in suspension bridges have shown to be prone to fatigue cracking. The annual maintenance and detection report of Jiangying Yangtze river Bridge records every newborn and developing crack on the steel orthotropic deck, whose characteristic could be classified into four main types. These crack disease are record by department of detection as detailed data reports every 6 months. However, with the improvement of the record management, these data’s recording format are different from year to year. As a result, an unique data record standard should be established to analysis 6 years’ whole data. In this research, 6 years’s data in the detection report of one suspension bridges’ steel orthotropic decks in China will be collated and collected. In-depth understand for the detection report plays an important role to collect the accurate data for the initial years, whose record format and phraseology are inadequacy, to save more usable data. This study is meaningful for the further studies on the rules of fatigue cracks and useful for the steel orthotropic deck bridge management and safety.
