ABSTRACT

This chapter demonstrates that there are a number of different systems for generating results information in the Swedish public sector. The Swedish policy-commission system can also be regarded as a major channel for introducing knowledge of the current state of research in various fields of activity into the political decision-making process. The chapter relates to the nature of the data yielded by new information systems operating in the public sector. It shows the type of information produced within the framework of the new budgetary process to other information systems. The chapter shows what has been achieved during the year in terms of activities. The National Audit Office has a key role with respect to annual reports, not just as a review body but also in terms of giving support to ministries when it is a matter of defining the information required to make an assessment of agency activities.
