ABSTRACT

Morocco is located in the northwest corner of Africa. It is bounded by the Western Sahara to the south, Algeria to the east, the Mediterranean (Alboran Sea) to the north, and the Atlantic Ocean to the west. It has an area of 458,730 km2. Morocco is separated from Spain by the Strait of Gibraltar , a narrow water passage with a width of 13 km in its narrowest point and bordered by the Pillars of Hercules (Fig. 17.1).
