ABSTRACT
In this chapter author, Riesenberg want to speak of the patient's as-if response to analysis a false connection with the analyst and the interpretations, which gives an outward impression of understanding and progress. The patient has learned a lot about 'psychoanalysis' but achieved no insight. In this situation it appears that both patient and analyst are speaking the same language that is, to get analytic understanding. Patient A attempts to say something were brushed off. He seemed irritated by my speaking, while at the same time he seemed impatient to get something from me. His posture and manner changed, he became thoughtful and after some moments he started speaking about one of his pupils who was under such pressure that he feared that he might have a mental breakdown. They fear on the one hand that their external objects are beyond repair, and on the other they resent the help they need to get, to allow them to repair them.
