ABSTRACT

During submaximal exercise under normally fed conditions the primary fuel sources used to resynthesize ATP are fat and carbohydrate. The balance between the use of these two sources is largely dependent upon the intensity and duration of exercise, although other factors such as aerobic fitness, body fatness, acute and chronic alterations in diet, maturation, and prior physical activity will further influence the metabolic response to exercise (Aucouturier et al., 2008).
