ABSTRACT
To better understand the effects of radiation on the biological system, it is necessary to understand the fundamental principles of atomic and nuclear physics. Therefore, this chapter will describe only those concepts of physics that are essential for an understanding of radiation biology. These principles will be discussed in a broad and conceptual form. Some of the important references on the subject are listed at the end of this chapter. 1–5
