These compounds remain almost entirely unbound to proteins.They do not enter cells to any significant degree and do not cross a normal, intact blood-brain barrier. The volume of distribution is approximately 165 mlkg, and elimination proceeds by first-order pharmacokinetics with a half-life of approximately 2 hours.
