ABSTRACT

In the chapters up to this point, we have so far assumed the basic experimental setup of traditional “open-loop” monitor psychophysics: a participant sits in front of a monitor, stimuli are presented on this monitor according to an experimental protocol, and the participant’s responses are recorded by means of a keyboard, mouse, or other input device. The experimental protocols discussed in Chapters 4 through 7 try to ensure that the experimental question at hand is measured as precisely and objectively as possible.
