ABSTRACT

China. Such contributions are also perceived as reflecting their loyalty to China and to their native place, and their commitment to improve and strengthen the locality and the nation. Finally, such financial support exhibits the capacity of the various benefactors to take into consideration other people’s interests, and not to act only out of private objectives. Clear identity, high reputation, loyalty, commitment, capacity to put oneself in others’ position: those are considered to be major components of the establishment of social prestige but also of interpersonal trust or, more pointedly, of the qualification of an individual as trustworthy.16
