ABSTRACT
Teaching takes place in a rapidly changing world, and this chapter introduces that context of rapid change in the world around us, and how as teachers you can positively encounter and manage that change as part of your work. A description of just what we mean by post-compulsory education in this book follows, with examples of the kind of teaching situations you may find yourself encountering. The chapter closes by outlining the diversity of the student body in PCE, by which time you should have a deeper understanding of the nature of the sector, and aspects of your teaching role within it.
