ABSTRACT
Posthumanism is brasher about its connections with futurity than other concepts explored in this Companion. The term’s division into post-humanism and post-humanism bears this out, foregrounding the paradigm’s readiness to contemplate rupture with the diverse traditions of humanism and also the obsolescence of the human itself. This is particularly so when posthumanism is characterized by a radical futurology that celebrates the provisionality of the human in the seemingly steady and irreversible movement towards evolved and enhanced versions of humanity.
